Sleep Disorder Symptoms and Common Types of Sleeping Disorders

Sleeping disorders have been occurring all over the world. They have been delivering difficulties to many people. Sleep is needed because it plays different functions that are essential to maintain the proper function of the body. To determine whether you are suffering from any disorder, the following states the different signs and symptoms for some of the common types of sleeping disorder:

Insomnia

Insomnia is always the cause or the root of other problems. Commons patterns of insomnia are the difficulty of falling asleep or staying asleep during the night, waking up early than usual and experiencing fatigue during daytime. Almost all people experiencing insomnia do not fall into sleep in situations that are not appropriate such as driving. If it occurs, you can say that a sleeping disorder much like sleep apnea is the root of insomnia.

Sleep apnea

This includes: snoring, having events of apnea while sleeping, concentration difficulties or in memory, headaches during the mornings, restless sleep, depression or changes in personality, swelling of the legs, hyperactive behavior, lethargy, unrefreshed feeling when you wake up and unnecessary sleepiness during daytime.

Narcolepsy

Unnecessary sleepiness during daytime which includes falling into sleep at times that are not appropriate such as while reading or during meetings, television watching, talking with someone or even driving. Cataplexy refers to the muscle tone loss due to the emotional stimulus like laughter. Sleep paralysis is also a sign of narcolepsy. This is where the body is unable to move while you are falling asleep or on the way of awakening. Hypnagogic hallucinations is also a sign of narcolepsy in which there is a clear dream that leads the visual, auditory or tactile feelings active while falling into sleep.

Narcolepsy also includes sleeping disorders like: Night terrors which are described as: screaming, having rapid heart rate, sweating, difficult to soothe, and are common on children. Sleep walking is also a sign of parasomnia.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS)

This includes abnormal sensations such as burning, tingling, aches or the sensation of bugs crawling, harder time to stay or fall asleep, and the urge of moving the legs which give a relief against the symptoms.

Chronic fatigue syndrome where you experience, muscle aches, muscle weakness, sore throat, headache, irritability, having a hard time in concentrating or on your memory, lymph node sensitivity and mild fevers.
