Does anyone using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea ever get symptoms like hayfever/allegy after using it?

I’ve tried cleaning every part of the machine, tank, mask, hoses. (It has a passover humidifier) Changing the air filter, cleaning the room, the bedding, etc, hasn’t made any difference. It’s definitly the CPAP, not just another allergy, because if I don’t use it one night, the symptoms clear up, and return immediatley when it’s used again. Allergy meds don’t help at all! Can anybody relate or help me?

Has anyone developed sleep apnea or symptoms of sleep apnea after a deployment?

Has anyone who’s served in OIF/OEF been diagnosed with sleep apnea since their return from deployment? My husband has been home a little over a year now and since his return I have not had a good nights sleep. He tosses and turns, kicks and sometimes punches all while in a deep sleep. I tell him about it the next morning and he remembers nothing. He sought help from the VA who diagnosed him with sleep apnea. He was given a C-Pap machine which does absolutely no good for the tossing and turning. Now his (National Guard) unit is getting ready to deploy again and he found out that several other soldiers were also diagnosed with sleep apnea since the last deployment.(all of them are flagged for the moment) Does this sound familiar to anyone? I would love to hear from any wives that might be dealing with this same type of situation. I refuse to sleep on the couch or in another bed. I waited a long time to be able to sleep next to him and I will not give that up. The lack of sleep I have had this past year is taking a big toll on my body and I’m not sure what to do at this point. Any ones advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank all!

does anyone have shift work sleep disorder?

i read in a prescribing book that there is such a thing as shift work sleep disorder. I’m wondering if it’s true and what they actually prescribe as drugs for it. If anyone has this let me know what your symptoms were and what they put you on. I seriously think i have this.

Does anyone else have similar insomnia-like symptoms?

I returned from a year in Iraq over 6 months ago, but I still have serious problems falling asleep. I have to usually stay up to the point of exhaustion, even if I did the same thing the in the days prior. 4 and 5 hours of sleep are the norm. While lying in bed I have intrusive memories.
The army doctors gave me some ambien which worked temporarily, but makes me act real funny once it kicks in. Anyone else have similar issues?

does anyone know anything about sleep disorders or parasomnias?

I may have a problem? I went over 20 years of partying and sex without anything to worry about except maybe how to get home in the morning. About 5 years ago I had a woman question me about things that I said or did in my sleep, I dismissed it as her imagination or the fact that I was just sooo drunk, dont worry about it, it worked. Now, here I am about 5 years later and again I here that things are happening while im sleeping. For the last 4+ years, nothing. All of a sudden, 4 months ago we do some research on my symptoms and they fall into a parasomnia called sexsomnia. Does anyone KNOW some good facts and/or details about this? Ive heard my share of things/opinions of people ive asked, most of them laughing and some of them clueless. Unfortunately, the clueless answers came from the ones that i truly considered credible…doctors. To anyone out there that has taken the time to read this, thank you, but please give me a (at least somewhat) educated answer, dont waste our time with some sort of 1-liner or half-assed remark. Thanks again, T

Does anyone else suffer from psychophysiological insomnia? What do you do to cope?

Does anyone else suffer from psychophysiological insomnia? What do you do to cope?

This is a type of insomnia that is best described by having racing thoughts that all relate to insomnia and trying to fall asleep. Then you keep worrying about falling asleep..then I generally panic which causes adrenaline to release then all hopes of sleep vanish

Sounds silly I know, but Read the rest of this entry »
